My blog is a mixture of my craft show pictures and info, my image creations and my ramblings. It's also my struggle to understand how to blog and change my page to my style!
My name might not seem to go with my sewing theme, so let me explain... Years ago my husband TOM started a gunsmith business and built an addition on to the top of our garage to house it. It was bigger than the garage. When our niece saw it, she said what's that Uncle Tom's cabin? It stuck! We also buy and sell antiques and we use the name for that as well. I started sewing and making things just for gifts and Tom said he knew people would buy them. I said I didn't think so. He kinda nudged me into the craft show thing, (Said he knew I could do it) I didn't have any confidence in my work. But, I took some things made from cutter quilts to an antique show. And they SOLD! I was hooked. We started to do antique shows and craft shows. And the name was still UNCLE TOM'S CABIN. That was about 20 years ago. I use this sewing daguerreotype from the Library of Congress as my image for everything UTC (it doesn't go with uncle, tom or cabin! It's just what I like. Doesn't really make sense.)
Just started some Halloween decorating, since I finished my show this past weekend. I am behind everyone this year. Still didn't get pumpkins yet or do all my outside decorating! I was busy making decorations to sell! Got my blog done in Halloween, LOTS left to do! I will post some pictures of my Bedford show later.
I love that picture too! I have a copy of it, sitting on a bent fork photo stand, under my Halloween feather tree. I wonder where I would have gotten it... ;) I really enjoyed seeing you guys in Bedford!
Married to my high school sweetheart for 40 years and the mother of a very special daughter.
Love to sew and create things that look old. I use antiques and vintage fabrics, bits and bobs, pieces of lace, buttons, pins, fur and anything that will give my creations that "Antique" look.
